Deepstack Poker Tournaments

How a Deepstack Works

The stack is measured in big blinds: a deepstack starts with many more than a standard event, so players can wait for spots and play deeper pots.

• Length: a deepstack takes longer and can run over more than one day.
• Skill: deep stacks reward post-flop play more than short-stacked formats.
• Megastack: an even bigger starting stack; see the megastack guide.

How to Play a Deepstack

• Play post-flop: with deep stacks, implied odds matter: suited and connected hands gain value.
• Avoid early stack-offs: there is time, so big pots early need strong hands.
• Read the structure: the starting stack and the level length tell you how deep the event really plays.
