Bounty Poker Tournaments

How a Bounty Works

Each entry carries a bounty. When you knock a player out, you win it, usually in cash or chips at the table. You still play for the prize pool as in any tournament.

• Fixed bounty (knockout): every bounty is the same amount for the whole event.
• Progressive knockout (PKO): when you win a bounty, half of it is paid to you and half is added to your own bounty, so the chip leaders carry the biggest prizes.
• Mystery bounty: the bounties are hidden and drawn at random; see the mystery bounty guide.

How to Play a Bounty

• Call wider against short stacks: a bounty adds to the pot you can win, so calling an all-in can be right with weaker hands.
• Cover your opponents: you only win a bounty if you have more chips than the player you eliminate.
• Mind the split: with half the buy-in in bounties, the regular prize pool is smaller than in a standard event of the same price.
