The Rules in Short
- Antes and bring-in: every player posts an ante; the lowest up card makes a forced bet, the bring-in.
- The deal: two cards down and one up, then three more up cards and a last card down, with a betting round after each.
- Limits: stud is usually played fixed-limit.
- Reading the table: the up cards show part of every hand, so remembering folded cards is a key skill.
Stud Hi-Lo
Played for low only, stud becomes razz.
In stud hi-lo (eight or better) the pot is split between the best high hand and the best low hand of five cards eight or lower, if there is one.
