About the Australian Poker Open

The Australian Poker Open (APO) is a live poker festival in Sydney, Australia, first held in March 2024. It is staged by Poker Palace at Poker Palace Sydney, the tournament room at Doltone House Western Sydney inside Club Marconi in Bossley Park. Each edition is a single festival of close to two weeks.

The schedule centers on an AUD 3,300 Main Event with several starting flights. Around it sit events for different budgets and games, such as the Platinum Player Championships, a Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller and a Seniors event for players over 40. The official Australian Poker Open site carries the venue and travel details.

The first APO in 2024 drew 549 Main Event entries, and local player Hasan Onay won the inaugural title. The second edition in April 2025 grew to a record 690 entries and a prize pool of AUD 2,001,000. Nelson Dong took that title and AUD 390,000.
