About the Ace Poker League
The Ace Poker League (APL) is a Korean-founded live poker tour. Judic Kim launched it in 2016 as the Asia Poker League, with a debut event in Beijing, China, and the aim of bringing more Korean players to international tournaments. In 2022 it was renamed the Ace Poker League but kept the APL initials. The tour is run by The APL Co. Ltd., and the official Ace Poker League site lists its series.
Before 2020 the APL also played in the Philippines, Vietnam and Taiwan, then spent several years focused on South Korea. Today it runs about three festivals a year in cities such as Manila, Osaka in Japan, Taipei and Jeju, each with 30 to 70 events. Main Event buy-ins sit in the mid range, for example TWD 26,000 (~US$880) in Taipei in 2025. The APL Taipei 2025 Main Event drew 1,178 entries, the largest APL field since 2024 in Asia Poker Hub data, and Hyundong Lee won it. At APL Jeju 2026, Pao Hsuan Hsu won a 980-entry Main Event worth KRW 1.56 billion (~US$1.0 million).
